A nts and Other Stories is a kaleidoscopic presentation of selected short stories by Humayun Ahmed. The fourteen stories in this collection are of varying shades connected by a similar core theme. Each of these stories upholds author's passionate love of life, his concern for fellow human beings in particular. Mr. Jalil in Mr. jalil's Petition is a man obsessed with a mission and Mubarak Hussain Bhuiyan, the debauch in Ants, is hard driven by his vices. Yet, both men in the end override their moral failings with superior human virtues.
বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান যখন ৬ দফা ঘোষণা করেন তখন বলা হয়েছিল আমাদের বাঁচার দাবী ৬ দফা। আরো পরে বলা হলো আমাদের মুক্তির সনদ ৬ দফা। দু'টিই ঠিক। আমাদের ইতিহাসের মাইল ফলক ৬ দফা। বাঙলাদেশের ইতিহাস সংক্রান্ত সব বইয়েই উল্লেখ আছে ৬ দফার। কিন্তু, আশ্চর্য ৬ দফা, ৬ দফা আন্দোলন, এর বিকাশ পরিণতি নিয়ে কোনো বই নেই। এই অভাব পূরণের বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম ঐতিহাসিক ড. মুনতাসীর মামুন রচনা করলেন ৬ দফা স্বাধীনতার অভিযাত্রায় বঙ্গবন্ধু'। এ বছর জাতির জনকের জন্মশতবর্ষ। এ বছর পালিত হবে মুজিব বর্ষ হিসেবে। এ উপলক্ষে লেখক-প্রকাশক শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ্য নিবেদন করলেন এ বই প্রকাশ করে। বইটি দু'টি পর্বে বিভক্ত। প্রথম পর্বে মূল রচনা, দ্বিতীয় পর্বে ৬ দফা সংক্রান্ত পত্রপত্রিকার যাবতীয় প্রতিবেদন/রচনা ১৪ ভাগে বিন্যস্ত করে সংকলন করা হয়েছে। '৬ দফা স্বাধীনতার অভিযাত্রায়' বঙ্গবন্ধু ৬ দফা নিয়ে প্রথম পূর্ণাঙ্গ গ্রন্থ।
"আমরা কেউ বাসায় নেই" বইয়ের ফ্ল্যাপের অংশ থেকে নেয়া: টগর ভাইয়া এক নতুন ধর্ম প্রচারে নেমেছেন। এই ধর্ম তিনটি স্তম্ভের উপর দাঁড়ানো ১. ঘৃণা ২. হিংসা ৩. বিদ্বেষ এই ধর্মের অনুসারিদের সপ্তাহে একটি করে হলেও মন্দ কর্ম করতে হবে। তা না করলে তার ধর্মনাশ হবে। কেউ কোনো পূণ্য। করতে পারবে না। এই ধর্ম মতে যে যত পাপ করবে সে ততই ধার্মিক। আমরা কেউ বাসায় নেই এক নতুন ধর্ম প্রচারকের গল্প।
